Save the Children beta test

Testing went really well, and there were a few ideas for changes to the game that i really liked, these are:

  • have a countdown timer for when the next income is coming.

  • Have things on the screen for the players to do while waiting for next income, examples:

    • bring water to a well (increase health)

    • click hostiles (increase safety)

    • buy toys (increase rationale)

  • have animations for the different interactions

  1. Andrew,

Fantastic idea for your game! Sorry the child soldier game did not work out so well. Still, I think it’s an interesting idea for a vignette that I think you should consider working with in the future.

One thing to consider with your game is the interaction with the jeeps. The jeeps contain the militia who can kill or kidnap children and destroy the houses. However, if you are working with Save the Children, you really can’t arm yourself. How might the people in the jeeps be otherwise persuaded to leave or be led away, and how can that be communicated through the gameplay? Or conversely, might the people in the camp be moved to a safer area?

I’m glad that you will be continuing work on this over the summer. Be sure to keep me posted!
